Control your monthly usage by setting up a limit
No one likes a surprise when the phone bill arrives, especially not for data that comes at a high premium once you've gone over your contract allowance.
To prevent data charges piling up, go into your Settings menu and choose a monthly limit. Your phone will tally up your usage, send you a warning when you get close to the ceiling limit and stop any data being downloaded once you hit it. As it's a phone setting, you can change it at any time.

1: Access data usage
Tap the Settings icon from your list of apps and locate the 'Date usage' option. It can be found under the 'Wireless and networks' options and will be near the top of the generic Settings menu. Tap the option to open it up so you can then set a mobile data limit.
2: Tap to start
Now tap the 'Set mobile data limit' option at the top of the screen to start customising your limit. Before you proceed, a warning message will appear: tap OK on the pop-up window that tells you your data connection will be disabled when the limit is reached.
3: Choose cycle
Next up, tap the Data usage cycle' option and choose 'Change cycle'. Set this to match the start date of your mobile phone contract. For example, if your contract runs from the 15th of each month, you should set up your data cycle to reset on the 15th of every month.
4: Set an amount
The default limit is set to 5GB of data per billing cycle. Drag the red line to increase or decrease this limit to match that of your contract. Here the limit is adjusted to 1GB. In this case a warning will be issued when 750MB is reached. The warning limit can also be dragged up or down.
